My weekly look back at the last seven days or so of service change registrations. A bit of a mixed back:
- Plymouth Citybus: The 25 (Cornwall) cancelled as part of changes already noted
- Stagecoach: The 59 taken over from Plymouth Citybus along with a couple of annual event registration closures all from 20 April.
- Dartline: Another couple of old ones from February and the 78S is cancelled from 4TH April
Licence | Route | Start Point | End Point | Effective | Notes | Operator |
PH0000135.351 | 25 | Newquay | Fowey | 20-Apr-2025 | Cancelled | PLYMOUTH CITYBUS LTD |
PH1020951.458 | 59 | Plymouth Royal Parade | George Park & Ride | 20-Apr-2025 | Following a recent tender round by Devon County
Council, Stagecoach will commence operation of Service 59 (currently operated
by Plymouth CityBus) from 20 April 2025. Service 59 operates from Plymouth City Centre to George Junction via Plympton, Sparkwell, Cornwood, Lee Moor and Bickleigh and provides four journeys in each direction Monday to Friday and Saturday. There is a minor change to the current route, where Merafield Road will no longer be served, as this will now be served by another service. There are also some minor changes to the timetable and therefore passengers should check the new timetable before travelling. |

These will be added to the usual Planned Service Changes page in due course as I have some catching up to do. One of the reasons I am behind is the excellent running day in town on Sunday – lots of pictures were taken and will appear here tomorrow (hopefully!)
I believe that the 59 is actually being operated by Oakleys & not Stagecoach
ReplyDeleteI think that was the plan but its Stagecoach now
DeleteI assume Oakleys didn't have the resource for those on the moors and the 59. The 59 has been registered by Stagecoach now
DeleteRouteONE website reports today that twelve Local Authorities have been awarded additional ZEBRA2 funding towards additional vehicles, over and above those already on order. Included is Devon County Council which will receive £772,000 towards ten additional vehicles, and Torbay Council which will receive £361,000 towards six additional vehicles.
ReplyDeleteOakleys reported on a Facebook post a couple of days ago that the 55/56/98 routes will be using temporary vehicles to start off with, then with brand new vehicles delivered in the summer. Probably with this additional funding
DeleteNo, that's way too soon. Buses from the additional funding will not arrive until Spring 2027 according to the press release but even then Brighton & Hove has said that theirs won't arrive until Autumn 2027. Even their buses from the original funding are still 12 months away.
DeleteIt seems that the additional funding is only going to previous winning bidders. Go Ahead has specifically mentioned Plymouth Citybus, so presumably the DCC allocation is going to them. Might explain why there was talk of 59 buses verses 50 a short while ago although the DCC allocation is for 10 extras, not 9.... so who knows!
DeleteCan't see why DCC money should go to PBB as they do not run services in their area? Other than 20a and 48?
DeleteThe additional ZEBRA funding is for Devon County Council, not Plymouth City Council. I think it will most likely be allocated to Stagecoach for Exeter (could be wrong though!). As for the new vehicles for Oakley's, I suspect these are supported by BSIP funding and will most likely be conventional diesels.
DeleteUnless the GAG reference to Plymouth Citybus is generic i.e. at Plymouth Citybus Group level and GAG actually mean Dartline? Hospital P&Rs in Exeter and something else perhaps? Maybe a stretch...
DeleteI've been through as many press releases as I can find and this looks to be the allocation of of the additional funding announced this week:
ReplyDeleteFirst West of England: 133 new and 27 existing repowered (Bristol & Bath)
Stagecoach: 84 (6 Torquay, 36 Hull, 42 Mansfield)
Go Ahead: 45 (13 Brighton & Hove, 6 East Yorkshire, 9 Isle of Wight, 7 Salisbury, 10 Plymouth)
Reading Buses: 8
Falcon: 8
White Bus: 4
Staffordshire: 9 (presumably Diamond or Arriva)
Leicestershire: 1 (presumably Kinchbus or Arriva)
Total 319
