Note that they are in the new 4 digit series rather than in the old Plymouth Citybus series following on from 171.
Work has started on them and the first are expected to be in service by the end of April
Excuse my ignorance here! Is anyone able to explain why there are still 2 different numbering series used with vehicles seemingly still being numbered in the 3 digit series on occasion? Also, are there any plans to renumber everything into the 4 digit series? Thanks in advance. Just curious!
ReplyDeleteJB would be the best person to advise, but it is odd, especially with the ex Oxford E400's being 3 digits, where these E200's are 4.
DeleteAlso 88, 91 and 6008 are SORN'd, as well as 150 still being out of action following the fatal RTC it was involved in back in Jan.
Any idea on when 150 will return? Or is it still being examined? Thought by now it would have been done
DeleteGSW fleet soon to be entirely transferred to a five digit numbering pattern.
Deletevery unlikely - wherever you have heard that.
DeleteSorry, didn't intend to send that last comment about fleet numbering anonymously.
ReplyDeleteEngineering decision according to JB. Could be anything - from history of vehicles to general rules around fleet management with newer vehicles. They are running out of numbers in the 3 digits anyway to be fair, and if there's more E200s to be received, then it may well be better to have them follow from a "newer" batch in the fleet numbering system.
ReplyDeleteAdditionally i believe they're trying to keep fleet numbering together as much as possible - take the type of vehicle for example, E400 Tridents are in the 400 and 4000s range, but the 400s are Euro 5 and the 4000s and Euro 6 (correct me if im wrong, please). So could be anything to do with that as well. In time, there may be a renumbering scheme, which has happened with many other operators in the past which see's the 65 plate E200s join the 2400+ range.
Wouldn't it just be easier if Go-Ahead made a national fleet numbering system and buses could just keep that fleet number no matter where they get transferred to?
DeleteNew Plymouth bus network map is up on the Citybus website. Really helps having all the services on there! Clearer to see where the 28 will operate now. Few colour changes to routes and it looks a lot clearer than before.
