  1. More second hand off casts due soon from Oxford for PCB following the arrival of new dockers at Oxford

    1. Do we know potential reg plates / models etc? Would be interested to see what they look like compared to the rubbish ex London buses we’ve had.

What sort of timeframe are we talking

    2. I believe that's its the 09/10 plate batch of e400's along with a few 55 plate Omnidekkas

      Delete
    3. Obviously E400s doesnt matter what state they are in cant be any worse than what some of the exsisting Citybus fleet is in. Anything that dumps the former Brighton Scania omnidekkas will be warmly welcomed

    4. i dont actually think this person knows, because the last thing we knew, were that GNE/GNW were going to be providing buses for PCB. Oxford never came up in conversation - however, if this is the case, then expect anything from 08 plates to 14 plate MMCs. E400s though, no E200s to be seen.

    5. considering that the buses delivered to Ox are for Brookesbus, the only buses available are E400MMCs unless they replace E400s all with **10 OFX plates? only a few have been delivered anyway so will be a while before anything happens

    6. 55 plates? Surely not - they’re only destination is the scrap pile!! Interesting

  2. i would love to know what absolute garbage they'll be sending then....

    1. phaa - probably the equivalent of whats been left on the gravel for ages, chuck in an old e200 and a citaro and job done

  3. Oxford City has a number of mid-life (2015-2017) Wright Streetdecks which will be available for cascades. They are OK as vehicles but might struggle with some of the hillier routes in Plymouth.

    1. i highly doubt they'll be getting any Volvos

    2. The Volvo East Lancs cast offs from London (401-419) were bad enough. Just getting up Albert Road on a 34 was always an intresting ride. E400s would seem the most logical choice- plus if PCB want to maintain the ridiculous service levels on some of there routes then some deckers maybe a good idea. I used to catch the 70 from Albert Road into town but now get a 34 the long way around via William Yard because the 70s are ridiculously full at the best of times. Now even if i miss a 34 and 70 turns up id rather get on that! Find the 11s also seem to solid at times when i have gone over to Saltash

    3. It's not the Volvos I was referring to. Oxford does have some Wright Eclipse Gemini on Volvo B5LH chassis but there are also a number of Wright Streetdecks which are an integral product. From what is being discussed above though it looks like ten-year-old Enviro400 MMCs will be coming Plymouth's way. Oxford does keep its fleet in pretty good nick so they should be OK.

  4. A couple of 66-plate E400s sounded a bit rough on the A34 dual carriageway to/from Abingdon the other day .....

  5. 18 Oxford e400s (300-317) due to start arriving in late January, possible some in the weeks prior. They will trickle in as Oxford receives their new stock, the new stuff will displace 64plates which will remain with OBC, and these 2010-2011 plates will come down this way.

It’s expected, as has been widely mentioned previously, these will see off the 56/07/08 e200s here, leaving Plymouth virtually entirely e400 ops.

    1. 300 etc are the 11-reg buses which were originally hybrids, but most - and probably all - have been converted to conventional transmissions.

      Delete
    2. So... The plan is to basically run more E400 buses to replace the E200's?

I'd be sad to see the 08 e200's go, they still sound amazing.

      Delete
    3. I don't think there are 18 in this batch anymore, due to fires, etc.

      Delete
    4. those buses are still Hybrids, additionally does anyone know the real Reg of the buses as they're all private plates with OXF

      Delete
    5. They will need a good interior refresh then, a lot of the seats are looking very tired in green moquette.

      Delete
    6. James, you think PCB will do that? You're joking!

      Delete
    7. well, according to JB, the buses are significantly newer than the ones mentioned in this post, and Oxford don't have any E200s..
so, where are these buses going to come from? i have a feeling, it'll be GSC.

  6. The ex east yorkshire E200's are going to the driving school, ousting the citaros. The E400s from oxford are the ex hybrids, these are ousting the scanias. There has been talk of some GNW E200's on a 13 plate seeing off the older e200s. If pcb win the tfc contract when it comes up for renewal, the likelihood is they will want new buses, so the 20/70 plates will eventually migrate to plymouth. We will have to wait and see.

    1. Interesting - I thought the ex East Yorkshire E200s were falling to bits and wouldn’t even be ok for the driving school. What conditions are the Citaros actually in?

When is the TFC contract up for renewal, I mean whilst on that topic PCB have obviously taken a load of E200 MMCs and rebranded them for Plymouth usage, surely they could just take a few of the many e400s back

      Delete
    2. The TFC contract was 8 years from 2020 so not even close to discussing

      Delete
    3. amazed at that comment to be honest, GNW dont have enough buses to run Bee & normal runs, and the E400s are definitely not ousting the Scanias.

      Delete
    4. The ex EYMS e200s are not going to the driving school. They are in too much of a state and far too noisy to be suitable training vehicles. The Citaros are perfectly reliable and suitable for the school. Not to mention larger than the normal fleet in width and length, meaning they are also suitable for training new drivers for Dartline who will then be driving coaches.

      Delete
    5. That makes total sense, the only place the old E200s are going is the crusher.

      Delete
    6. Wouldn't it make more sense to keep the 56/08 plate PCB Enviros for the driving school?

      Delete
    7. @James 05/12 16:14…….. no.

    8. Anon 6th December 10:48. Why not? All well a good saying no but no explaination. Graham I thought the whole point of approving posts was to stop anon spam, yet it seems to get approved?

      Delete
    9. @James 07/12 23:36, read above your post for a fairly detailed explanation about why not. Have you travelled in these 56/07/08s? Any bump and they are rattling like a box of nails, only 100x louder!
From what I hear from drivers they are decent to drive, but extremely noisy, one would assume it would be vital for a learner driver to be able to hear their instructor. Anon 04/12 10:43 also said they are used for Dartline drivers too.

Makes more sense doesn’t it? And I guess as the e200s are only about 6-18 months younger than the Citaros anyway, probably not worth it.

      Delete
    10. Anon 19:08. So what? PCB has used Darts, Olympians and many other vehicles which clang and bang around. The Citaros are fuel thirsty and also have higher emissions than most of the fleet.

      Delete
    11. Is that the reason why the Citaros were pulled from the fleet?

      Delete
  7. There was a Citerro in the paint shop last week masked up ready for spraying anybody know anything about this development.

  10. PA1 with the higher football special fares couldn’t compete with 2/2a/10/11/12 with 6 buses an hour combined between them from Saltash. So no surprises to lose that one. The other football specials don’t have such frequent regular service buses to compete with.

    3. Interesting… What condition / any reg plates known?

If they’re not for PCB then who are they for? Both 167&168 have been out of action for a while interestingly….

      Delete
    4. They are too new for citybus..lol

      Delete
    5. No more info on them atm. However, JB has said the E200s arriving to PCB are significantly newer than these three 61 plates which have arrived

      Delete
    6. Well the only logical place they would be going is Dartline. Presumably replacing some of their older Solos. Given they are from London they probably a heap of junk as per the 64 reg ones which soon disappeared again.
