Finally
I just want to end the year with a big thank you to all who have supported this little but long running blog over the last year with lots of comments and suggestions. Hopefully 2023 will see more posts than the last few years have managed due to various issues including covid!
Happy New year Graham
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Graham and everyone. Maybe we could get your thoughts on the new Enviro range? I think they look ugly as hell. https://www.memuk.org/sustainability/ev-fuel-cells/new-alexander-dennis-enviro400ev-and-enviro100ev-feature-next-generation-electric-driveline-79424
ReplyDeleteany update on the Solos? they just sat around doing nothing?
ReplyDeletePossibly going to dartline
Deletepretty sure half of them have citybus logos on already so if going to dartline, that wouldn't match them keeping the brand.
DeleteWouldn't take much to rebrand. them
DeleteI am sure they can change the logo on these buses pretty quickly before entering service if they needed to. Not aware any of them have have full repaint yet. The last I heard they were all for Plymouth but things can easily change. There are still quite a few yet to arrive so some could easily end up with Dartline if required.
DeleteI dropped off a work vehicle to citybus for some work before xmas and some of them were lined up numbered in the 1800 range
DeleteThought it would be of interest to users of Stagecoach in the South West that after just 4 days of Midland Red (South) Limited running the new Transport for West Midlands Services 41& 46 from Queen Elizabeth Hospital In Edgbaston and A9 & 169 in Solihull that TfWM have issued am official warning that Stagecoach is currently unable to fully fulfil its new contracts & is advising passengers to check the TfWM Service Disruption Website before travelling as the company is suffering from a severe shortage of drivers..........
ReplyDeleteRugby, Leamington Spa, Kettering and Northampton which are all Stagecoach Midlands are still cancelling services that people need to get work because of driver shortages and then they still take on these contracts knowing that they can't run them properly because of driver shortages . Something needs to be done
DeleteExactly what we've experienced over the past 6-9 months. Driver shortages are everywhere!
DeleteThankfully these contracts were awarded to Stagecoach as a last resort and are very lightly used., Diamond Bus handed them back after being awarded them initially & NXWM withdrew orginally .Interestingly NXWM has recently suffered driver shortages after losing a number of drivers at some garages. NXWM withdrew a large number of services on New Years Eve to focus on its core routes. All the withdrawn services save the Stagecoach routes are now operated by Diamond Bus as Rotala doesn't have a driver shortage. The Mayor of West Midlands Combined Authority Andy Street CBE may be facing some unfortunate questions about the awarding of these contracts to Midland Red (South) Limited
ReplyDeleteAs Anon 17:15 says, lots of operators have driver shortages and are having to make difficult decisions about scaling back. One of the major problems is that it takes far less time for a driver to hand in their notice and leave than it does to train up replacements.
