Plenty to report this last week with another large batch of service alterations in Cornwall for Plymouth Citybus from 4th September 2022
We also have a few cancellations by Stagecoach for tendered Plymouth City services which it seems have gone to Citybus although their registrations have yet to come through.

Interesting that the 200 Coypool P&R is cancelled, is this also being picked up by PCB?

DeleteStagecoach don't seem to know what they're doing or what they want to do. To be honest PCB is no better but in the long run maybe it would be better to have just one big operator and several smaller ones doing the odd job work.
DeleteNo replacement for 200..... I suspect as it was cut so drastically and supported at the end by PCC it is not financially viable. 101 is also withdrawn replacement will be enhanced service 1 every 10 mins George to town... every 2nd one will provide 20 min service to Tavistock. I believe PCB 61 will divert to serve milehouse
DeleteNow stagecoach have lost the 36 service, they should put the deckers on their 3 service from Plymouth to Dartmouth, there's so much potential in this route for tourism as the views from a double decker are spectacular.

ReplyDeleteYes, the new Gold timetable is on Traveline. The route is withdrawn between Torquay and Paignton but otherwise existing frequency is maintained.
DeleteI think Gold will continue every 30 mins in general Plymouth to Paignton only and not serve Torquay.

DeleteAny reason why it is not going westonfields as it always picks up loads of people and is a very good service with the gold service, the 88 is a complete waste of time finishes by 6pm no one is going to use that rubbish service, I think they do it to get people back in their cars, first bus did this a route works well customer s get the bus runs regularly and late into the evening then they decide to change it and then no one catches it and then they reduce the service and because they cut the service they have lost all those customers and lost lots of money
ReplyDeleteNot role of fast interurban route to provide local estate service into town & smaller buses used on 88 better suited to roads there. Not particularly busy section of route delaying through passengers. Cuts Gold resources safeguarding overall route.
DeleteI had feared for Gold as passenger numbers didn't seem to be recovering that well after the pandemic, but it has started picking up now. My impression is that it is poorly used between Paignton and Torquay (except when there is a gap on the 12). Also there seem to be few using the service in Westonfields who would not be catered for by the 88 extension, especially as the loop can be operated in the time that the buses currently have for layover in Totnes. These changes will allow a couple of buses and some drivers duties to be removed from the route to cut costs, which will enable the core service between Paignton and Plymouth to continue at existing frequencies.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you there. Citybus are usually pretty good but this time seems to be a lot slower. I do wonder if there are still a few changes to be ironed out to try and fill some gaps. Hopefully we will find out the full picture very soon
