  1. Surprised "Discover Exeter" had come back for 2022, it never had any passengers onboard.

    1. Yes indeed, doubt public knew what the plain bus devoid of any branding with just EXETER as its destination even was!

    2. It's all seemed incredibly half-hearted - whatever happened to the two Lothian Tidents that were branded for the service? It also seemed weird to start it from St David's rather than in the city centre where there's plenty of people.

    3. One is in Camborne, in pieces, the other is in Taunton, but has never been able to run more than a couple of days without issue. Whilst the unbranded one wasn't ideal at least it has commentary for the few that used it

    4. The 2 tridents both had major mechanical issues

  2. Stagecoach will be cancelling there bread and butter services to concentrate on the commonwealth games

    1. Apparently Stagecoach are deploying around 1000 drivers for the Commonwealth Games, I assume that is the total number and some will only be doing a few days and not all these are Stagecoach staff (I know one of my employers depots, which isn't suffering driver shortages, are providing drivers to Stagecoach) but it is difficult to see how they can cover this without affecting services elsewhere. You can see how a company can cover a one-off special event using overtime & management resources but not how such a large event covering several weeks of fairly continuous service levels without impacting elsewhere even if it is during school & Uni holidays which may produce a driver requirement saving.

    2. Yes indeed, sadly it puts profit before local communities which potentially travel year round if its services actually ran more!

  3. The 378 is a very poor replacement for Stagecoach's hourly Seaton to Lyme Regis link, with just four busses a day. Any news though of any form of replacement of the Cranbrook to Axminster service?

I note that whilst all the other Devon County Council timetable e-booklets were published as usual in May, that for East Devon is not due until the end of this month.

  4. New route 44 will link Exeter and Honiton hourly on Mondays to Saturdays, operating via Rockbeare. Route 44A will operate between Exeter and Axminster six times a day on Mondays to Saturdays, operating via Whimple. On Sundays two return 44A journeys will operate between Exeter and Honiton only (presumably these are linked with the two Sunday route 9 journeys between Honiton and Sidmouth). This is all supported by Devon County Council.
