Devon & Cornwall Transit 2021: Week 19

The usual weekly look back on what has been published on the Registered Local Bus Services site over the last week. Click on the licence numbers for full details on each route including timetables and maps.

  • Taw & Torridge have two new services starting at the end of May
  • Filers Travel also have a new service – this time stating in July.
  • Finally Tally Ho amend their 164 from 21st June, presumably incorporating the old 606 service registration which is being cancelled.

    1. The Coypool Park and ride? They should try it on the 1 across the moors in nice weather.

    1. taken from the SSW website - in Exeter we’ll be introducing a change to the 39, running an extension to Widecombe in the Moor, hourly, on a Saturday

    2. It's possible that Devon County Council may be supporting this as an alternative to the "Haytor Hopper" operated in previous years (but not 2020) by Country Bus.

    3. The new 39 timetable is now on the Stagecoach website. It looks like the Widecombe service is a self-contained one-bus shuttle from Bovey numbered 271. There are six return journeys on Saturdays connecting with route 39 journeys at Bovey, these will also operate on Mondays to Fridays during the school Summer holidays. Interestingly it looks like the Summer Sunday double-run to Haldon Forest will not operate this year.

    4. To clarify: although the 271 journeys appear to be connections with route 39 journeys at Bovey Tracey, they are in fact operated as through journeys with through fares available. This year ENCTS passes are accepted on the 271. Travel Devon states that the route will only serve Haytor and Widecombe-in-the-Moor this year as this will allow bigger buses to be used.

  3. Off topic, but spotted CityBus 501 today (22/05/21) in a new livery. Its white and lilac based for Ignite. I took a picture from the car but it did not turn out well, so no evidence I am afraid!
