Devon & Cornwall Transit 2021: Week 18

The usual weekly look back on what has been published on the Registered Local Bus Services site over the last week. Click on the licence numbers for full details on each route including timetables and maps.

  • Plymouth Citybus make a few route changes from next week due to congestion, along with a couple of changes to routes in and out of Bodmin.
  • Tally Ho cancel their 606 from the 20th June
  • First Wessex introduce their summer X53 timetable at the end of May.
  • Finally we have the registration for the Stagecoach 122 open top service which started back in April.

The route encompasses many of the area’s most popular hotels and attractions including Babbacombe’s Theatre, Cliff Railway and Model Village. Views from the top deck are stunning, featuring plenty of photo opportunities of some of the bay’s most beautiful scenery. Here, you can hop off for Torbay Leisure Centre, Splashdown Quaywest and Goodrington.
New for 2021 we’ve rerouted the service to stop at Hoburne’s Devon Bay Holiday Park, offering a doorstop connection for site’s visitors to take in the many attractions Torbay has to offer during their stay.

These are all closed school services so no public timetables seem to be posted anywhere.

  1. Intresting the 606 has been cancelled is there any plans to extend there 164 down there or is another operator taking the challis

    1. Extending the 164 would make sense. Devon County Council had planned to use funding from the Department for transport and from Great Western Railway's community funding to increase the service on the 164 and co-ordinate it with train departures and arrivals. Extending it over the 606 to provide Salcombe with a co-ordinated rail-link-type service would be a logical extension of this proposal. As with many things bus-wise in Devon though, we shall have to wait and see!

  2. Tally Ho cancelling the 606 is a surprise - I wonder what (if anything) is replacing it?

    1. there is a new change registered for the 164 today - so I guess that replaces the 606 in some way

  3. Tally Ho! are indeed extending the Totnes to Kingsbridge service to Salcombe. My dad is a driver at Tally Ho!
