Continuing to look at the new raft of leisure services being introduced by First South West this month, we have the full network of Day Tripper services D1 to D11

As we are now just two weeks away from the launch of these new services I would expect to see the details of fares etc being published very shorty.
As usual this is the information available at the time – if you are intending to visit Cornwall make sure you check with the operators own web site for up to date timetables etc.
I am not sure how many of these service will be covered by buses in full Day Tripper livery from day one, but you will certainty notice those that are:

Great network with so many combinations. it's a shame they didnt manage to add a Plymouth,saltash ,liskerd feeder this would have provided even many more oppertunities

DeleteI get the impression that these are journeys that can be squeezed in between college contract runs. Plymouth would be too far away at this stage but could be added if the concept proves itself, or in summer when the college journeys are not required.
DeleteHow is it good one journey a day on most services, each finishes at around 4pm is not a day trip, its half a day trip what a waste of time
ReplyDeleteIt's simply utilising buses and drivers between college work so can be done at very low cost. If it's not to peoples liking in terms of the times then it won't be a success and won't run after this year.
DeleteTrouble is with plymouth,saltash and liskeard it has a reasonable train service to st austell so people travelling from this area would proberbly use the train then the bus
ReplyDeleteThe current timetables all appear to fit around school or college journeys. So for a Plymouth route, First would also need to pick up some work to a Plymouth school or college.

ReplyDeleteFirst are probably awaiting definite confirmation that lockdown restrictions are easing on the 17th - not much point in advertising the routes and then not running them.
DeleteThat’s right. They’re not traditional bus routes so the need for pre notification to customers using them for commuting etc doesn’t exist.
DeleteBeing largely new, with vehicles that have been laid up or only recently taken into fleet and drivers who have had to be route learned and familiarised on all aspects of delivery, the conscious decision has been made to ‘soft launch them’, so no public fanfare or launches.
The new website for Adventures by Bus is ready to go live at the end of the week, the BoS and CbK websites will be suitably amended during the week to separate them out and point at each other appropriately.
Still no news on fares or any publicity from First about the Dartmoor Explorer service which is due to start next Sunday
ReplyDeleteI an understand the reduced need for advance publicity for the Daytripper/Dartmoor Explorer etc, but not for the various local bus services that are changing at the weekend. Other First OpCos have managed to get publicity out sufficiently in advance. Seems quite an uncharacteristically poor showing really.

Umm no the lockdown is not over, the pandemic is far from over, its easing restrictions that's all could still be further lock downs, the virus has not gone away
