The Brighton Scania double deckers have now departed Plymouth back to Brighton & Hove. There was a suggestion that these might be staying around a bit longer especially with the additional school work from September but it seems they are not going to be needed so home they go.
To mark their leaving I have this wonderful shot from Alex Street Photography;
“During the extreme hours of the morning and night Plymouth Citybus operate a group of bus routes often refereed to as the "Troopers". These were originally introduced to convoy staff to and from work at hours where a normal bus service would not be viable. Enviro 200 WA56 HHP is seen flying past, on the 20th August 2020, loaned Scania N270 YN57 FYG working the 85 which is one of the two current trooper routes currently in operation.
Should my information is correct this should also be the final day of operation for YN57 FYG, assuming it doesn't head out into service tomorrow (21st August), before it goes back to Brighton during the weekend. It's a shame to see these go being some of the best vehicles that have operated in Plymouth for some time but as with all good things, they must end”

I think most if not all of these troopers are cancelled from September
ReplyDeleteI think only 81,82,83 cancelled but 84,85 running 7 days a week instead of only sundays
Delete442 back in service todayt 24th august on service 34
ReplyDeleteIts a bit optimistic to say the bus is flying down Royal Parade as it is quite clearly parked in the bus bay, with doors open and the drivers hands not being on the steering wheel.
ReplyDeleteVery decent buses though
Yes it is, but it's the one going past, only its lights registering on the picture, that Graham is referring to. Right, G?
DeleteIf you read the description it's the passing Enviro 200 which is "flying" not the stationary bus.
DeleteIt does indeed quite clearly state its an Enviro passing by!
DeleteB&H has another service uplift next week plus additional school journeys to run as well, so it's probably more a case that they're needed at home, rather than Citybus not needing them.
ReplyDeleteI have hopes to buy a B&H omnidecker at some point
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to have missed these, although I have ridden them in their native Brighton & Hove.
ReplyDeletethere is a bluestar B7TL Over the pits at milehouse being prepared for use, believe for schools when they open, also the coaches are getting use as training buses and possible school services with one said to have a ticketer and TFC logos and routes programmed onto dests, but i cant say for sure if dests and ticketer is true but ive seen the TFC logos on the coach and L plates on most
ReplyDeleteFour of the Brighton and Hove buses are heading to Go North East, as further vehicles are required as a result of the operation of more school contracts. In fact, I believe the buses are already at GNE to coincide with the schools returning this week.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the confirmation!
