Britains most scenic route?

Copy_of_PNG_Logo_CroppedBus users across the UK are being given the chance to vote for their favourite bus journey in a survey to find ‘Britain’s Most Scenic Bus Route’. It is first time such a task has been undertaken and researchers in Yorkshire are confident of a good response from passengers.

First, Arriva, Transdev, Go-Ahead and Stagecoach are supporting the survey and will ask their 420,000 followers on social media to take part.

The survey has been developed by researcher, Paul Kirby of PK Marketing, who has 25 years’ experience of data collection and analysis. People can vote for their favourite routes online and are entered into a cash prize draw. The winners will be announced in summer 2018 and a website will be produced to promote Britain’s most scenic bus routes.

The voting form can be found HERE: http://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/ScenicBus

Not surprisingly there are a few Devon & Cornwall routes listed (you can add others to the list if you wish)

  • 3 - Dartmouth to Plymouth - Stagecoach South West
  • 21 - Barnstaple to Croyde - Stagecoach South West
  • 22 - Paignton to Dawlish Warren - Stagecoach South West
  • A1 Atlantic Coasters - Penzance to Lands End - First Kernow
  • A5 Atlantic Coasters - Newquay to Padstow - First Kernow
  • X53 Jurassic Coaster - Weymouth to Axminster - First Wessex

I am surprised that the Plymouth Citybus 50 isnt listed though? A nice comfortable ride through the delights of Leigham, Estover, Whitleigh, St Budeaux…

So if you want to see one or our routes at the top of the votes then register your votes now.

Are there any local routes you feel should be listed?

  1. The 70 for pcb and the sunday variation of the 95/96 between bude-wadebridge for fk would get my vote. So are you sure on the 50 or does the 51 just have the edge we wouldent want the tourists to come down and feel that going the other way round would be a better experiance🤔

  3. The new March Buses mag has a four page local feature about how the four Stagecoach Gold routes developed with both Plymouth and Ivybridge mentioned.

  4. I'm surprised the Citybus 70's aren't included, lovely views over Whitsand.

  5. Surely Citybus 70 Plymouth to Cremyll has got to be contender- fantastic scenery and includes a ferry crossing.

    1. Gold is OK scenery-wise, but I don't think it has the drama that parts of the 3 and 22 do.

  8. I was surprised to see the A1 on the list but not the much more impressive A3 (Lands End - St Ives). Needless to say, I've nominated it.

  9. Stagecoach 3 surely is the most scenic and possibly the 1 too!

  10. Stagecoach Hop2 is the route I've suggested, one of my favourite routes although sadly the timetable doesn't suit my needs anymore so I take the train instead, about £4 with a railcard, vs £9 by bus. Hop12 is another good route.

  11. Depending on what your tach on Scenic is I would Say for Countryside the 75 Stagecoach South West Service between Oakhampton and Bideford also the 319 Barnstaple to Hartland via Clovelly, the X64 between Dartmouth and Totnes also the 20 Operating between Taunton and Seaton....
