Blue Solo for Citybus

The paintshop at Plymouth Citybus has been getting busy again:

Optare Solo 206 has appeared in this blue livery for the 34 34A which now goes into the Royal William Yard for the first time.

  1. Great to see some more branding, especially for something other than a flash!

I do think you'd be forgiven for thinking it was branded for service 15...

  2. Buses are to small & inadequate for the service, should be using Volvo B7RLES

  3. 206 will only run on the 34a as it fits through the archway at RWY, the 34 will run to the front of RWY and use double deckers as per current.
If the small optares are to small if the popularity of 34a grows then prehaps another solution will be reached then.

    1. Is the width the problem through the gateway, rather than just the height?

Is it possible to maintain a 15-minute service with only one bus, or will a red small Solo be used as well?

    1. Yes it does say every 15 mins - but the first number you see is 15 - the 34 34A route numbers are kind of lost on the bus, so I see what the previous comment was about.

  5. Not a patch of First Kernow's stunning new liveries!

    1. I think we'd all agreee with that - but then this livery was probably paid for in part at least by Urban Splash so presume that they get the say on the livery scheme.

  6. Dreadful livery. As already stated it looks like it's for a route 15. Route 34/34A not even mentioned on the rear of the vehicle and barely visible on the sides.

  7. not a very dynamic livery, being urban splash, i would expect a vibrant livery with simulated waves along the bottom... you could mistake it for stagecoachs park and ride livery
