402 PN02XCC Withdrawn - Surplus to requirements (Correct photo now!)
411 PL51LGA Withdrawn - Surplus to requirements
412 PL51LGC Withdrawn - Surplus to requirements
413 PL51LGJ Withdrawn - Surplus to requirements
414 PL51LGK Withdrawn - Surplus to requirements
419 PL51LGX Withdrawn - Surplus to requirements
As always some of these may end up back in service for operation reasons but they dont have long left.
406 407 410 415 are still licenced for service but not for long!
401 403 405 are converted to single door so should be around a little longer
408 409 are both in City College Plymouth livery and are still in service I believe.
What is surplus to requirement
ReplyDeleteIt means Citybus has no further use for it, ie: they don't need it anymore.
DeleteYou have to realise that, under normal circumstances, if 20 new buses join the fleet 20 older buses will become "surplus to requirement". The new buses will have taken their place.

I believe the plan is for Trident 485 and one other to be painted in City College livery to replace 408 and 409. Does anyone know what happened to training buses 443 and 444 after withdrawal?
ReplyDelete408 and 409 are in service but 408 was broken down in town last week and i think is still off the road. and i think the one door ones will say for a long time

ReplyDelete443 and 444 were recently withdrawn and sold to a dealer.
ReplyDeleteWalked around Milehouse Depot today (20th April) and noted the following withdrawn and stored vehicles.
ReplyDeleteIn the Lower Yard 406, 410, 19, 407, 20, 413, 35, 414, 42, 24, 22, 402, 26 & 18. Preserved Dart 10 was also present.
Behind the Tram Shed 57, 56, 41, 31, 55, 419, 412 & 411. Also present were LDP265, LDP266 & LDP272.
59 & 438 were behind the Raised Depot being stripped for spares and likewise 205 in the Raised Depot.
34 & 40 were parked in front of engineering and 415 was parked beside the Wash.
Didn't see 32 but I'm sure it was there somewhere!
Heard that only one bus (485) is to be painted in City College livery.
ReplyDelete32 was in the 'cripple line' on the gravel outside engineering.
ReplyDeleteDarts 34 & 40 have been sold to Berry's of Taunton and join several other ex-Citybus vehicles already in their fleet.

DeleteYes it is true, whatever you thought you saw in service yesterday it most certainly was not 34.
34 (and several others) was withdrawn from service because it was not DDA compliant.
I think you should have gone to Specsavers. 34 has definitely gone.

ReplyDeleteCould be any number of reasons why 34 & 40 went to Berry's rather than a consecutively numbered pair, but those two might have the newest major units (engine, gearbox etc), others in the sequence might, perhaps, be suffering chassis corrosion so are less attractive, who knows. Two buses which appear the same, and have outwardly had the same working life can be very different to each other when they get older and a prospective purchaser looks at them.

Delete34 and 40 were very very good buses. 40 especially. 41 was a right dog! rubbish bus. 35 wasnt bad but 42 the best.
