Park & Ride going Pink

First are not wasting any time in getting their Park & Ride buses repainted. The second one WA08MVE has just been completed as seen here thanks to Paul Furse. In the background you can see the next one WA08MVF reversing into the paint shop.

As far as I understand it some of the 55 Reg Tridents will also receive the pink front livery. It has also been suggested that the PR2 fleet will have green fronts, which will be the Volvo B7s.
It will be interesting to see what livery the W reg Tridents will wear once they have been refurbished for the Tavistock routes. It would make sense for them to have the same style front end, in another colour although I guess red or blue is out of the question!

  1. Why can't they all stick to their own colours? It's more confusing for passengers.
    Red should be CityBus
    Purple should be First

    1. Why should they stick to their own colours? Indeed, whilst the CityBus has long been red, shouldn't First be green? The country buses around Plymouth were green long before anyone thought of First!
But that's not the point, Go North East at one time had a different livery for each route group (I don't think they are quite that diverse now), and indeed Reading and Trent/Barton do too. Why shouldn't they choose any colour they like? I'd even argue that Park & Ride should be a different livery to 'normal' service buses, providing the depot allocation is reliable (and we know the problems it can cause), so that P&R users who are by definition motorists rather than bus users can recognise their bus from the others coming down the road.
If CityBus should be red and First purple, to quote Henry Ford, all cars should be black. And while we're at it, all trains in chocolate and cream?

    2. As I said, it confuses customers. If you have a season ticket or a return ticket for a specific operator, you want to get the right operator's bus, not accidentally flag down the wrong one. It also makes it confusing for people who don't usually take the bus. They might see the buses go around the area they live or work and not know which operator those buses are for.

    3. Utter rubbish, credit people with a bit of sense, please. Most will go by what the destination screen says, not just the colour of the bus. Besides, Citybus has operated all-over advert buses for years and Western National buses were all sorts of colours after they were all green...... blue with white/cream, for example.

    4. If the destination boards are working they still don't show the operator. For a lot of people with poor eyesight those huge pink double deckers will look a lot like the CityBus red double deckers

    1. Probably because Plymouth paint shop has been busy painting buses green for Somerset.
You have to love this board - people spend months moaning that First never paint their buses and that they look shabby, now they are painting them..... and people still manage to moan. First will never win, whatever they do!

  12. First's Plymouth paint shop dies a bus every 1 to 2 weeks depending in its size and complexity. They are currently painting B6s for transfer to BoS. The Oark and Rides are therefore being done outside because they want them done quickly. First's Bristol paint shop is also painting for BoS so capacity is being fully utilised.

  13. Happy to have been wrong, its just I saw 100 from the road, with ACJ on the number plate so I knew it was in there, 101 was not in view from the road. I guess then that 100, 101 and 102 will go blue!
