This is very short notice as the service has already started! Traveline South West still has the old timetables for Beacon as being current but does mention that Oakleys will be running the services from the 22nd April. The Devon County web site still shows the service as being with Beacon. Their own web site is purely for the other side of their business – the party limos. As you can see from the VOSA route licence numbers these are the first bus services operated by Oakleys. I am sure their entry into the tendered services market has been warmly welcomed by Devon County Council!
Does anyone know what they are using on the new services? The service is down as being low floor so I guess they must have a low floor Dart or a Solo? Of course they do have at least one low floor Optare bus...

Is that a grocer's apostrophe on the pink bus?
ReplyDeleteYes indeed, although there ought to be one in "Oakley's".... but certainly not where they've put it!
DeleteYou could if you wanted argue it's a shortening apostrophe for the word "Limousines" - although given the missing one in Oakley's you'd have a hard job!
DeleteIs this a very short term tender as Jackett's takeover the 55 and 56 in May 2014
ReplyDeleteThey use S3 HCR and J910 SEH. Both step entrances, J910 SEH is in purple and in party limo livery, very weird to see it being used as a primary school bus this morning.
ReplyDeletethey have few darts and Mercedes-Benz
ReplyDeleteJ910SEH, an ex First PMT Reeve Burgess Dart was operating it today.
ReplyDeleteToday they appeared to using a pink step-entrance Dart and a white Beaver 2. I saw both at Yelverton.
ReplyDeleteI thought Jackett's had these two along with the 56?
ReplyDeletethey are running a clapped out J reg step dart and a Mercedes vario that has seen better days on the plus side if you want to ride on the above junk then rides are free as there is no ticket machine so I have been told talk of Tavistock is that jacketts has it from 20 something of may,
ReplyDeleteI saw a green dart, driven by a oakleys driver, near there depot, then seen again later doing there oceana contract, so they've obviously got some 'new' buses
ReplyDeleteWhat has happened to Beacon Bus? They had a really smart low-floor fleet including some (new?) stretch Solos. Did they just lose the contracts or has the whole business gone scat like D.A.C., so they didn't even tender in the first place? Are they running any services at all now? If not, who is running Tavistock to Barnstaple until May?
ReplyDeleteIs it Oakley's who have a pink Optare Alero?
ReplyDeleteKeith
I have been told talk of Tavistock is that jacketts has it from 20 something of may, Minneapolis Party Bus
