From the 9th March, some of our fares will see an increase of 5p on a single and 10p on a return. We have tried to hold the price of as many fares as possible. to that end these changes will only be for fares that are currently priced at £2.00 and over for a single adult, £3.00 and over for a return adult journey and their child fare equivalents.
We have decided to hold off applying an increase to our adult dayrider until 20th April 2014, regrettably it will then see a 10p increase to £3.70. Child dayrider will stay at £2.90.
All other fares, including season tickets will remain frozen. Our last fare change took place on the 10th February 2013.
It has to be said it could be a lot worse!
Just another day running a bus company

Luxembourg, Luxembourg: If I had to describe Luxembourg's public transport system in one word, that word would be... colourful!
Why the bus pass is great value for the country Research shows that access to concessionary travel contributes significantly to a more active lifestyle among some older people. Being able to use public transport helps people get out and about, reducing the likelihood of weight problems, something which costs the NHS over £10bn a year. Free bus travel also helps tackle many people’s biggest fear – loneliness and isolation
io my god citybus are getting a bleedy joke known, putting fares up again .it,s all about making big profilt for them ,there made 19 million pound last year ,before all running coasts come out of that ,it was in the eve paper last week ,
ReplyDeleteif there did not keep byeing new buses there would be able to hold bus fare,s down in price
IF FIRST BUS CAN DROP BUS FARE,S AND NOT PUTTING THEM UP THIS YEAR AT TALL FARES ,.JUST MEANS CITY BUS PUSHING MORE PEOPLE ON TO FIRST BUS .LIKE THE NEW 3A WAS STANDING UP THE ORTHER EVE ,AND THE CITYBUS 61 WAS EMPTY AND FIRST NEW 6 EFFORD WAS STANDING TWO ,CITY BUS NOT BUSY
and First must be losing thousands of pounds a week with their low fares, doesn't seem good business sense to me. At least City Bus will still be here for years to come. Passengers must realise that cost for running companies goes up and it has to be paid for. City Bus don't seem to be all that worried as they are still expanding their services including outside the city.

DeleteI hope you don't mind me posting this comment, I realise that it is not relevant to todays posting, however, the subject has been discussed here in the past? There is a new live web cam (including sound) for the sea wall stretch of railway line at Dawlish. http://new.livestream.com/dawlishbeachcam/events/2813873 I thought this might be of interest to anyone who is unaware of it.
