I am sure it wont be long before Citybus give us the detail behind the changes but so fare there are no surprises apart from the cancellation of the 43B. Of course it is entirely possible that there are more notifications to come as they do often get spread over a few days. Until Citybus do explain then I shall refrain from trying to guess – but please feel free to comment as usual!
I really don't understand why the 45 or x38 or 'gold' doesn't go through lee mill. Whenever the x80 used to go through there their was always a couple of people who got on and off. Yes they do have a bus service that goes through there the '180' but that's only every hour or so & doesn't run on a sunday!
ReplyDeleteBlimey do Citybus go longer than 2 months without changing timetables nowadats?? Maybe 40/41 and 43 split again as this has bn a right mess. It wouldnt surprise me if they increase freq of 61/62 again to try and combat Firsts 3a which appears to be getting busier day by day..although they would need some serious fare cuts here too.
ReplyDelete43b being cancelled in the evenings, but being replaced by short 29 to transit way. I know this as I have just designed the destination blinds for them.
ReplyDeleteWhat's going on.with the 30/5A? Both have route changes.
Deletei wonder if they will run the 32 through stoke-milehouse-railway station-city centre and maybe the 33a through millbridge possibly to stoke? i've seen numbers picking up on the 32 and 12 not so much on the 33 though
ReplyDeleteUnless another service is taking the final, Holly park, section, I wonder if the reason is bad parking on that part of the route is making it too difficult to get there - or is blocking the turning bay at the end. I know Citybus have said they have had problems in the Woodford estate in Plympton which made them reluctant to go there later in the evening. On the same theme, in Plympton, did full-size buses ever use Underwood? There is no way a bus would get through there now, although I think the bus stops are still there.
ReplyDeleteIn this week's Tavistock Times there are a couple of letters complaining about the withdrawal of the 84 through Whitchurch and wondering if bad parking had something to do with that. Just possible, though, complaints about the withdrawal of a service by people who never used it when it was there.

New 61a serves Holly Park, West Park, Honicknowle, Peverell City. Was told today yet another Fare increase next month from Go Ahead ?
DeleteAll is clear!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.plymouthbus.co.uk/about-us/news/service-changes-from-the-5th-jan-2014
5/5A – Split services on Sundays.
21/21A – The 0800 from Steer Park 21 is to operate as a 21A for extra capacity for Chaddlewood. Means St Maurice will have a gap in service though the extra capacity on the Chaddlewood stretch in the peak is definitely needed!
27/28 – Run 5 minutes earlier with an extra morning peak 28 outbound. I think it’s always been a matter of time before those 10 minute layovers at Derriford AND Royal Parade were cut!
29 – Upped to every 20 minutes.
30 – Effectively withdrawn. Withdrawn from Pillmere instead a morning and evening peak only service from Fore Street.
32 – Torpoint timing changes with an every 30 minute service to the Plymouth side of the Ferry.
33 – Increased frequency during the week and a new Sunday service.
34 – Withdrawn from Admirals Hard and the Royal William Yard to help reliability issues, and more importantly the very full buses in the peaks.
40/41 – Extra time M-F schooldays and Saturdays. Route numbers back to how they used to be, not splitting in Southway.
42/42A – Extends to the Royal William Yard.
43 – Reduced Sunday service.
45 – Withdrawn from Mayflower Street.
61A – New service to replace the 43B. Good comeback against First’s 3, serving West Park to Peverell.
See how the 45 is being cut - this is because there's no competition on the route. Imagine if Citybus had the city to itself. There would be cuts everywhere. Not to mention huge inflation busting fare rises. Lets all ride with First to ensure they stay in the city. Its for all our benefit.
DeleteSorry - but the 45 is not being cut! All that is happening is that it is not serving Mayflower Street - which is due to congestion in the City Centre. As for no competition - what about Stagecoach Gold - if that's not pretty major competition than I don't know what is! The cutbacks in Ivybridge have all come from First. I agree that First staying around is for all our benefit in that competition should be a good thing, but why would Citybus cut back on routes if they are making money?
Delete40/41/43 cross city route is staying cross city. only changes are an extra bus slotted into the timetable and retiming of the whole route to address reliability issues. 61a in the evenings to holly park.
ReplyDeleteNice to see Go Ahead listening to their customers again. Customers in Southway must be getting fed up with this complete disregard to their feelings by now. Oh yes and I agree it's Go Ahead not Citybus now.. at least First don't try and con people by pretending to be local!
Deletehere here, i agree as it also has we are part of the go ahead group on all aparently (PLYMOUTH city bus) buses, i really think first need to enter southway with new route as go ahead do not care about us here.
DeleteNot just Southway, Billacombe, Oreston, Honicknowle, Brake Farm, St. Pancras Ave, Holly Park and Saltash too. And as for Plympton, so much for a 10 minute frequency on the 21 - I often wait 25+ minutes to go into town of an evening for my part-time job. Is there someone I can complain to about this? I don't mean Citybus as they didn't respond last time - is there a bus users group?
DeleteIt is not a 10 min frequency on the 21's it is a 20 min frequency. If you are going to complain you need to have your facts right. You were obviously late for the one you wanted to catch and the next one was running late. So that makes your 25 mins waiting. Easy to work out.
Deletefare increase? love to know where you got that info from?
ReplyDeleteThere is the Bus Users Group for complaimts... I would take it to them anon 21:40 as Citybus don't give two hoots and will ignore you anyway.
DeleteANON 21:40... First now cover Billacombe, Oreston, Honicknowle, St Pancras, West Park and Saltash. From what I have been told plans for 2014 include a new service to Plympton and Southway, so hopefully that will sort the problems out for Citybus customers in these areas.. they will soon be able to vote with their feet and wallets
