PT RECOMMENDS
- Since my last post on the reintroduction of New Brighton's free heritage bus service, Merseytravel have since rebranded the service as the "Free New Brighton Shuttle Bus", which seems quite logical seeing as Stagecoach in Wirral have now drafted in a low floor open topped vehicle primarily just for the 15 service North West Bus Blog
- If you’re looking for your next career move, perhaps you should try First’s newly created website The Journey Starts Here Omnibuses
- A prospective Tauntonian may wish to explore the town and its environs by bus; and may, optimistically, seek to obtain a timetable booklet. But there isn't one ... Public Transport Experience
Nice looking vehicles, given the current weather, will they have air-con? Pity the are not registered under a West of England plate. Anyone know fleet numbers for this batch?
ReplyDeleteLooking good. Hopefully there will be some praise for citybus when these enter service. Especially after this weekend. not sure what went wrong but they got some nasty comments on Facebook.
ReplyDeleteBasically ran out of drivers due to booked holidays and sickness, those drivers already working ran out of driving hours to cover, and those off probably had things to do booked as well.
DeleteMany drivers came in on their rest days to cover duties, and drivers who had a split (basically a long break) gave up part of their break to cover one or two trips on their break. They do keep around 30 drivers as 'spare' (I'm told instead of having a set duty written down on their rota it just says 'SPARE') during the week at least, with around 5 as 'Standby', for a few hours each. Things must have been bad Sunday night - even Brian George stepped in and covered a duty! Top marks to him and all the other drivers who are working rest days and giving up part of their breaks to cover duties; if I was a manager at Citybus I would definitely appreciate it! Big well done.

ReplyDeleteNo WA13 registration?
ReplyDeleteInteresting.
Do we know if they will re-plated? Also looks like no air con either, typical of PCB who are still hell bent on ripping off the people of Plymouth
ReplyDeleteWhere would the air cin unit be in this bus? if anything, the number of opening windows would suggest there is aircon wouldn't it?
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised the 'Anti Swoop Brigade' hasn't piled in and started playing their very broken record yet..
ReplyDeletehow do u mean by re- plated? registration? it may be that there were no available west England marks left? end of day, does it really matter?! passenger air con may bump the price of the bus up quite a lot so may b why it hasn't got it? end of the day, be grateful that u r getting 8 brand new deckers! go - ahead don't buy them for the sheer hell of it! they r bought for the passengers so they have nice vehicles to travel in. just a shame they don't look after them, when they dump their rubbish all over the floor!
ReplyDeleteThere's no air-con on that bus. If there was then you'd see the fans at at the rear between the decks as per London-spec Enviros, which do have air-con on the top deck.
ReplyDeleteNice bus though, especially with the bonded glazing.
Interestingly appear to have black headlight surrounds.
ReplyDeleteHeadlight surrounds are red. Rear bumper is fully red not grey. The vehicles will carry local registrations. Fleet numbers 500 to 507.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the confirmation BG!
DeleteStrange numbering, logically would be 501 to 508 surely.
DeleteSimilarly 100 to 109 maybe should have been 101 to 110.
The batch of short Darts started at 201 and the ex London double deckers started at 401.
Maybe it's down to the 'new' MDs preference!
DeletePersonally I'd have numbered them 501-508 & the B7RLEs 101-110; the running card numbers for the B7RLEs are 101-110 which would make life easier for drivers, in the sense that running card number 104 = bus 104 (for example) instead of as they do running card number 104 = bus 103.
I guess it's just down to individual preferences - though if there is an actual reason behind it I'd be interested in hearing it!
This numbering does seem illogical - what if fleet numbers 1-10 were vacant and you ordered 10 new buses. Under this system would they be numbered 0-9, I think not
DeleteAll over red liveried Enviro 400 spotted heading West on A38 at top of hill down to Marsh Mills today at about 16:00. Didn't catch the reg as was heading in opposite direction!
ReplyDelete2 are at Milehouse, at the back of the raised depot by the pits. The rest are due this week.
DeleteThey've obviously parked them there as they don't want people taking photos of them. As frustrating as this may possibly be, just think if you were in Citybus' position and you've invested a considerable sum of money on new buses, the last thing you'd want is photos being sent all over the internet when they're not fully fitted out etc. I'm sure Citybus will reward us with a nice launch event like they did last year though!
yes they are tom. all 8 have now arrived. the engineering team now need to livery the buses, fir radio's etc, then register them for the 1st aug. so will be 63 plate! woop woop
ReplyDeleteTO ANY ENTHUSIASTS: PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE DEPOT TO TAKE PICTURES OF THE NEW BUSES.IT IS PRIVATE PROPERTY.
Plymouth Citybus are very pro enthusiast. let's not spoil it for everyone else by ignoring their wishes.
**** ONE WILL BE ON SHOW ON THE HOE THIS SUN FOR THE WNPG RALLY****
63 plates don't come in until September
