The Council is encouraging everyone who travels on the Northern Corridor to think about how and when they travel |
The final phase of work on Tavistock Road’s new southbound bus and cycle lane will begin later this week. Construction work on the new bus and cycle lane between Charlton Road and Crownhill – being delivered through a road widening scheme – is now well under way and work to extend the city-bound bus lay-by at Crownhill (low-level) is nearly complete. The second and final phase of the scheme involves safety improvements to the Crownhill flyover (Crownhill Road) which will see the introduction of safety barriers around the bridge piers. This work is expected to start on or around Wednesday 3 March and will last for around two and a half weeks. Plymouth Transport and Highways will be carrying out as much of the work as possible from the southbound side of Tavistock Road but there will be times when the northbound carriageway will need to be reduced to a single lane of traffic. Wherever possible this will be restricted to non-peak travel times. There may be some disruption to journeys during this phase of the works and the Council is encouraging everyone who travels on the Northern Corridor to think about how and when they travel. People travelling from the north are advised to park at the recently extended George Junction Park and Ride and use park and ride buses to get into the city. There are also dedicated buses from the Park and Ride straight to Derriford Hospital. People travelling from the south are advised to catch a bus from the city centre or use the park and ride at Milehouse. For help in planning your journey contact Traveline on 0871 200 22 33.* Further information about the works is available on our Northern Corridor web pages. Plymouth City Council |
