Free off-peak bus travel for the elderly and disabled anywhere in England - not just in their own council area - was backed in the Commons. (Monday 14th May)
The concessionary bus travel bill gained an unopposed second reading.
The transport secretary, Douglas Alexander, said that buses were "at the heart" of the transport system and a "lifeline" to many communities.
Its good to see that this bill is going ahead unopposed. At least it should iron out the differences between local authorities. It remains to be see just how it gets administered - and more importantly - funded!
